Go Bees Go!

Once you're outside the valley, it's funny to think of such a hot and humid place actually having a hockey team....but true to their love of ALL sports, the Maldonado's didn't think twice when the Dodge Arena was built a few years ago and the Killer Bees swarmed into the Rio Grande Valley.  Hockey fans right from the start, Addie followed in her parents hockey lovin' footsteps, even sporting her own mini bees jersey to each game.  What a sport!

So intrigued by the game...  :)

Eatin' her "papacorn"...

Me, Amari and Christi enjoying the game.. :)

Little Miss Sunshine

It took two seconds (literally) after I got off the plane on this Thursday afternoon to convince my mom to take me to Omar and Christi's house to see Addie.  It had only been a month since the gang was up in Dallas, but for this anxious Aunt, it felt like a lifetime.  I was happier than could be, not only wrangling a free trip to the valley (courtesy of work to be done on Friday @ Pan Am) but I had also managed to get down there early Thursday afternoon!  Seriously?  A two for one special and I was one happy camper.

After a quick trip to my parents office to pick up Addie's Easter dress, we headed over to Christi's parents house to snag the little one and prep her for her photoshoot.  I'm no professional, but this girl can make any amateur photographer look like a pro...  :)  We had a blast!

Tisk, Tisk, Tisk.

It's a good thing cell phone use while driving hasn't become illegal in the valley... or little Miss Addison would have some explaining to do!  :)  (it's a good thing her daddy is a lawyer ;)

On a recent trip back home for work, I got a chance to steal some of Christi's pictures to add to my Addison Grace collection.  I love seeing all of Addie's pictures over the months.. it's like seeing her grow up from Dallas!

Awww... I wanna bet that's she's talking to her Aunt "Bet" (that would be be me... lol)

The Meddlesome Moth - Construction

Set in the heart of the Dallas Design District, The Meddlesome Moth (or The Moth for short) will entertain the daytime creative spirits of interior designers and fashionistas alike while luring in the late night crowd with tasty tidbits and enticing morsels of delicious menu items.  Chad has worked himself silly creating a menu that everyone will surely love...from the hearty to the healthy...to the warm and comforting... Chad's menu is sure to delight.  :)  Just a few months out from opening day and construction is well underway.  Taking in the recent activity at the construction site, Chad arrived home late last night with a few camera shots to share.  Stay tuned as the work progresses!

A view into the bar space from the main dining room.

View towards main entry.

A view from Chad's future kitchen space....

Just enough space to rock out some awesome stuff.
We BOTH can't wait for opening day!!  :)

Checking out his new digs...

Open concept kitchen to let you in on ALL the action!

Valentine's Weekend 2 - Spelunking at Inner Space Caverns

Inner Space Caverns-
After a frustrating start to the day (missing exits, getting lost etc., etc.), we made our way to Georgetown on this Valentine's Day to check out Inner Space Caverns.

In the cable car that was to take us underground... Ooooooo...  :)

View to the great beyond...

Our first sight of all the formations..

Chad's obviously being silly.  :)

a little furry bat friend..

Just hanging out... not bothered by us taking pictures of him.

Our tour guide called these Soda Straws...

Temptation Rock...One of the only rocks you can actually touch down there.
(apparently your hand's oils stop the formations from growing)

In one of the larger rooms down there.. SOOO COOL!

Looks like an ear of some ancient animal..

The 24" hole that brought the first explorer into the caverns back in the late 60's.

Huge mound of gently running water..

The ceiling above us... Looks like whipped meringue

Or creamy mashed potatoes!  :)

How cool is that?!

Stalagtites and Stalagmites joining together.
